ANKARA, 12/06/08 - Un cittadino somalo e' morto per un colpo di arma da fuoco e quattro persone, tra cui due poliziotti, sono rimaste ferite in una rivolta scoppiata nel centro di detenzione per immigrati di Kirklareli, nella Turchia nord occidentale, alla frontiera con Grecia e Bulgaria. La protesta e' iniziata ieri notte. Gli immigrati hanno preso possesso di due pistole della polizia e tentato di fuggire, secondo quanto dichiarato dal governatore della provincia Zeki Kocberber. La polizia quindi ha chiuso gli immigrati nelle loro stanze e chiamato rinforzi dalle truppe paramilitari. La vittima avrebbe sfondato la porta e iniziato a sparare, secondo Kocberber. Gli ufficiali avrebbero sparato "un colpo di avvertimento" - secondo la versione ufficiale - quando l'uomo ha rifiutato di fermarsi tentando di scappare. L'autopsia ha confermato che l'uomo e' morto per una ferita da arma da fuoco.

One dead in Turkish migrant centre riot
ANKARA, 12/06/08 - A Somali man died of a gunshot wound and four people, among them two police officers, were injured during a riot at a Turkish centre for illegal immigrants, Anatolia news agency reported Thursday.The migrants at the centre in Kirklareli, in north western Turkey, began rioting overnight, attacking and stealing the guns of two police officers trying to quell the unrest, the province's deputy governor Zeki Kocberber was quoted by the agency as saying.The officers locked the rioters in their ward and called in police and paramilitary troop reinforcements, he added.The victim broke down the door and rushed out firing his gun, Kocberber said, adding that security forces fired a warning shot when he refused orders to stop and tried to escape.
"Despite this, (the man) began climbing to the top of a phone booth and fell to the ground. An examination at the local hospital revealed that he died of a gunshot wound," the deputy governor said, without elaborating.The local prosecutor has launched an investigation.Turkey lies on a major people-smuggling route from Asia to western Europe and illegal migrants are detained on an almost daily basis.Turkish security forces have come under fire from rights activists about allegations of mistreatment and failing to provide proper accommodation as migrants await deportation in state-run centres
Turquie: un immigrant en détention tué lors d'incidents avec la police
ANKARA - Un immigrant clandestin somalien a été tué et quatre personnes dont deux policiers ont été blessées dans la nuit de mercredi à jeudi au cours d'une émeute dans un camp de rétention du nord-ouest de la Turquie, a rapporté l'agence de presse Anatolie.Des immigrants retenus dans ce centre situé à Kirklareli, près de la frontière Bulgare, ont mis le feu à leur matelas, vraisemblablement pour protester contre leurs conditions de détention, selon l'agence.Des clandestins ont ensuite agressé deux policiers venus mettre fin à l'émeute et se sont emparés de leurs armes de service, a affirmé le vice-gouverneur de Kirklareli, Zeki Koçberber, cité par Anatolie.Les agents sont parvenus à enfermer les mutins dans leur dortoir et à appeler des renforts de police et de la gendarmerie, a-t-il ajouté.La victime a défoncé la porte et pris la fuite en tirant avec son pistolet, a poursuivi M. Koçberber, indiquant que les forces de sécurité avaient procédé à un tir de sommation après qu'elle eut refusé de s'arrêter."En dépit de cela, (le clandestin) a commencé à grimper sur le toit d'une cabine téléphonique et est tombé à terre. Un examen à l'hôpital local a révélé qu'il avait succombé à une blessure par balle", a déclaré le vice-gouverneur, sans donner plus de détails.Une enquête a été ouverte par un procureur de Kirklareli.Le camp de Kirklareli a été construit à la fin des années 1980 comme centre d'accueil de réfugiés. Ses premiers habitants ont été des réfugiés bulgares d'origine turque. De 1991 à 2003, ce sont les réfugiés bosniaques et kosovars qui ont bénéficié du centre.La Turquie est située sur une importante voie de passage des immigrés clandestins en provenance d'Asie et désireux de se rendre en Europe.
