No border holidays in Hamburg, Patras and Dikili

For those who want to combine vacations and political commitment, we inform that three antiracist camp are going to be organized in Germany, Turkey and Greece.

Hamburg, from 16 to 24 August 2008
Hamburg organizes deportation charter flights for the European Union, since 2004. Frontex, the European Border Agency, participates in such mass deportations since some time. Frontex also carries out training programs for its staff at Federal Police Academy in Lübeck near Hamburg. The camp will take place in Hamburg. Lectures and seminars are previewed. The focus shall be the big airport-occupation-demo.

Patras, from 29 to 31 August 2008
Since many years Patras is an important transit point for the Iraqis and Afganis asylum seekers who left illegally Greece in order to reach Italy and the northern Europe. They hide themselves under the trucks going on the ferries to Italy, at the risk of their life. Not far from the Harbour, about 500 refugees live in barracks, in a camp patrolled by the police. The no border camp will take three days of seminars, music and demo

Dikili, from 3 to 7 September 2008
Near Izmir, Dikili is one point of departure for migrants and refugees who cross the Aegean sea from Turkey to Greece. The Greek Coast Guard has been accused several times of returning and sinking the migrants boat. In the last ten years, about one thousand people died on this routes. The no border camp will be a week to share experiences, there will be seminars and demonstrations.
